NEGOTIATIONS IN PROGRESS |
|
4/10/2008 The Membership rejected NewTec's last,
best and final offer by an overwhelming majority and voted to strike the
company by a 92.5% vote.
To our membership: Today we had an un-official meeting with NewTec’s top management and we discussed with them the overwhelming results of your strike vote. At this point it appears that the Company might be willing to sit down with your Union committee to see if it’s possible to avoid a strike though direct contract negotiations with our Union. Your Union committee is more than willing to do so and the Company will contact our Grand Lodge Representative on Monday to this effect to set up the negotiations as soon as possible. To that point we have not given the Company the “5” day notice of our contract termination and we will advise our Membership via the Web site, Flyers, Stewards, or the Negotiators when we do so. Until then, please maintain your continuing support
for your Negotiating Committee and please demonstrate your solidarity by
supporting each other during these trying times and always remember that
everyone is part of the IAM family and families always stick together. 4/14/2008
The Negotiation Committee is going to meet with the Company at 0900
Thursday to try to resolve our differences. 4/17/2008
Your Negotiation Committee is meeting with the Company as we speak. If
the Company makes significant movement toward a re-vote of the Membership,
we could be voting as soon as Friday and even possibly this weekend as
well. Please arrange your schedules to vote when necessary, your
participation is critical.
We met with the Company all day with only minimal results. We will meet with them tomorrow to see if they will offer an improved proposal for the Membership. The Government has not identified a Reserve Gate at
WSMR Main Post. We have not
received a response from Holloman on their designated Reserve Gate as yet.
Today your negotiating committee arrived on a tentative agreement with NewTec and we are strongly recommending the new company proposal. We believe that as a result of your strong vote to reject the previous company offer that this is the best proposal we can obtain from NewTec short of actually going on strike. We were able to move the company on the insurance
coverage and the new contract will provide coverage at 80/20% for Medical
and Dental for all 3 years for the HMO Blue 15/500, which is the plan that
we all have at this time, the other plans the Blue 250 and the Blue Alt 25
is covered at a much higher rate. Please be prepared to vote on this proposal starting
on Sunday evening at 5:00 PM We will also have voting on company time at the following locations, Monday, April 21st at: White Sands Missile Range at the Theatre
10:00-11:00am We will be counting the ballots immediately after the Holloman vote. Again, we are strongly recommending this contract, and your vote is very important. REMEMBER-- As we already have two strike votes there will only be a vote to accept or reject this proposal. If it is rejected by the Membership we will be on strike. Thank you You can view the modifications to the proposal below (requires MS Word and Excel)
